Not really a chicken burger recipe as such - more a "how-to". I trawled the internet looking for fresh ideas for making this easy meal - but every recipe I found was far from easy. Why would you complicate the simplicity of a burger? So I thought I'd just wing it (chicken wing it! haha!) and threw in a few things I had in the cupboards and I wasn't disappointed
And it really is very easy to make up your own chicken burger recipe.
Basically you just need some minced (ground) chicken and squish it into a burger shape. But it's much more fun, and tastier too to add other stuff
You can see in the photo above how I added dried herbs, curry powder, minced onion and dried garlic to my chicken burger recipe mix.
You can finely chop the onion or to mince it. If you don't have a mincer a hand blender will work just as well - but only on the onion - don't go breaking your hand blender trying to mince chicken flesh!
Of course, fresh herbs and garlic could be used if you have them - but dried is very tasty too and more convenient
Then also, if you can be bothered with the palaver, you can dip your burger in beaten egg then breadcrumbs, purchased or fresh (or even crumble some cornflakes) before cooking - a bit like the ones you buy frozen
Think what other flavours and ingredients you might like to try adding, and in what combination.
Such as:
try adding......
grated carrot
nutmeg
mixed spice
cranberries
coriander (cilantro)
rosemary
parsley
dill
sage
(other herbs)
lemon rind
chilli
curry
minced celery
black pepper
many people also of course like to add salt
and of course you can always add a crumbled stock cube for extra flavour.
Just remember that if you are adding a wet ingredient such as minced onion - don't add too much or you'll have a sloppy mix which will be difficult to handle, shape and transfer to the pan
Cook your burger in the same way you would cook any purchased burger
And don't forget - think carefully about where your chicken comes from
